Cycling in Edale

Edale at weekends often seems full of mountain bikers. There are several excellent circuits for the mountain biker starting and finishing in the valley.

One typical circuit is to cycle around Win Hill, which guards the eastern entrance to Edale Valley, taking in the Roman road past Hope Cross and traversing down the western side of Ladybower reservoir.

Another popular circuit is to take the old bridle path over Jacob's Ladder to Hayfield and return via the bridle path which passes Mount Famine and Rushup Edge.

For easier cycling routes the Derwent Dams are only a few miles from Edale. These offer several fairly level routes.
